Russ Miller Releases Radio Edit of “Rhythm World,” feat. Gleam Joel

Renowned drummer Russ Miller drops the new Radio Edit version of “Rhythm World,” a track lifted from Miller’s album, Arrival, released via R.M.I. Records to vast acclaim and enthusiastic support from the media and listeners.

Talking about Arrival, Russ Miller said, “This record is a huge project.  I have worked on the concept and material for three years.  I wanted to do an exploration of rhythmic vocabulary.  My own, and other great drummers and percussionists as well.  We put a new band together and along with some guest artists, recorded ten compositions for the ensemble.”

Arrival features 30 mega-artists, 10 original tracks, and nine ‘Rhythmic Conversations” with the world’s best drummers. The original version of “Rhythm World” features vocals by Mabvuto Carpenter and Russ Miller and Steve Gadd on drums.

The Radio Edit version features Swedish rapper Gleam Joel and the Vine Street Horns of Chicago and Phil Collins fame.

Over his dazzling career, Miller has played on more than 500 albums, as well as over 150 movies, including Chicken Little, Fracture, Rugrats Go Wild!, Boondock Saints, Resident Evil Apocalypse, Silent Hill, and Garfield. He’s worked with artists such as Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Tina Turner, Bobby Caldwell, Andrea Bocelli, Nelly Furtado, The Psychedelic Furs, Hilary Duff, and Steve Perry, along with a host of others.

The author of five books and six instructional videos, Miller was voted numerous times as one of the world’s top five drummers by Modern Drummer Magazine’s Readers Poll. He’s played with American Idol’s house band and endorses Mapex Drums, Zildjian, Remo, Vic Firth, DW racks and hardware, Zoom AV products, Porter & Davies Tactile monitoring, Hercules stands, May E/A Mics, Prologix, SKB cases, Arrel Audio Electronics, Puresound Snares, Cympad, Switchkick, Audio Technica, and Meinl music instruments.

Miller has toured the globe with his own band and released six solo albums.

“Rhythm World” opens on an infectious funk-lite jazz rhythm accented by a gleaming piano and topped by rich, smooth vocals accompanied by glowing harmonies. When Gleam Joel’s husky, rasping flow enters, the lyrics take on luscious granular textures.

On the chorus, lushly layered harmonics intertwine, forming resplendent washes of swanky music, followed by the tune’s brilliant conclusion – Joel’s gritty tones topped by bright braying horns and choir-like harmonies.

Russ Miller has it going on! “Rhythm World” pushes out delicious, seductive energy and contagious motion.
