Meet David Ogunnubi, Better Known as Extra

David Ogunnubi, better known as Extra, is an up-and-coming African American artist and songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. While Extra has been creating music since his freshman year of college back in 2009, he’s only recently brought his sound to mainstream.

The creative’s passion for writing music was fueled by a peer who was a producer in his dorm building. The producer challenged him to become a better songwriter after hearing him freestyle. That interaction lit a fire in Extra’s passion for music.

Extra is still making music with the same college crew he started with years ago. While balancing a 9-5, he works hard on the weekend to continue building momentum. His lyrics are inspired by life experiences and different things he sees happening in the world.

Extra plans to drop a new visual every month and two tapes a year, eventually expanding his content. He picks up quickly on trends, especially in the fashion industry.
