DJ Iceman Partners With Scrybe Streaming

Veteran Brooklyn beatmaker DJ Iceman, launched his career spinning vinyl at age 9. After three decades of DJing, he pivoted in April 2017 to full-time production under the alias Big Boss Beatz, crafting raw, golden-era boom-bap. Since then, he’s released over 900 beats and collaborated with Wu-Tang affiliates like Hell Razah, Dungeon Masta, Judah Priest and Havoc from Mobb Deep, He also founded Big Boss Beatz (his production company), Big Boss Records, and Big Boss Music Publishing, emphasizing total independence and ownership of his music.

With accolades including multiple digital DJ awards and recognition from One World, Boom Bap Nation, and Thisis50, Iceman’s influence extends from Brooklyn to Seattle and beyond. His recent gear tour across the Pacific Northwest and pushback against Spotify over payout changes highlight his dedication to fair artist compensation.

Now, DJ Iceman is partnering with Scrybe Streaming, a rising “streaming 2.0” platform founded by CEO Christian Phyfier. Launched in Summer 2021, Scrybe allows artists to set their own micro‑subscription prices per song, album or catalog—empowering creators to directly control their value and earnings.
Scrybe is one of the few platforms to host Kanye West’s Donda 2 album. (They took The Heil Hitler track off their platform, but kept a lot of the other tracks on) Solidifying their stance to fight for the artists right to be heard.

Why This Partnership Matters
Full control & independence: Coinciding with Iceman’s steadfast focus on ownership, Scrybe’s model gives artists control over pricing and distribution, eliminating the traditional streaming middleman.

Better earnings for creators: Unlike typical per-stream royalties, Scrybe offers recurring revenue—if 100,000 fans subscribe at $0.10/month, that’s $10,000/month, with artists retaining ~80% after platform fees. Many are reportedly earning up to 100× more.

Fan-centric affordability: Fans pay only for what they listen to—starting as low as $0.01/song—streamlining the economics and making niche music more accessible.

What Iceman & Scrybe Aim For
DJ Iceman will release select beat tapes and instrumental series through Scrybe, offering fans direct support options beyond traditional streaming platforms. This aligns with his efforts to leave Spotify over payout frustrations and engage directly with his audience. “This is a platform i believe in. just like Bandcamp is the foundation of direct artist to consumer SALES, i believe Scrybe will be the blueprint of direct artist to consumer STREAMING, and im glad to be here for this opportunity”

For Scrybe, onboarding an entrenched independent figure like Iceman underscores their mission: empower seasoned and emerging artists through transparent economics and creative direct-to-fan relationships. Christian Phyfier envisions Scrybe as “freedom”—a return to artists calling their own shots and controlling income streams.

In summary, the DJ Iceman × Scrybe Streaming collaboration marries a veteran beatmaker’s drive for ownership with a disruptive platform reshaping financial equity in music. As Scrybe grows its artist-first ecosystem, this partnership could signal a broader shift in how independent musicians monetize and distribute their art in the streaming age.
