Xanda Exclusive Interview with Muzique Magazine
How did you come by your stage name?
The big brother of my best friend during childhood always called me that name: Xanda. That’s the short form of my first name Alexander.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
Due to my father, I’ve always been listening to all kinds of rock music and I’ve always loved to sing. At the age of seven, I started playing guitar and played in various bands over the years. During this time I also taught myself to play drums, bass, and a bit of keyboard. All in all, music has always influenced my life and is still the most important thing in it. I discovered that writing and creating songs just makes me happy and gives me a feeling of relaxation.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
That’s difficult for me to sum up with few words but I will try. I was and am still influenced by any kind of music and many artists. Especially Wolfmother and Motörhead inspired me to start playing guitar. I like a hard rock as well as stoner rock but lately specifically psychedelic rock fascinates me. Babe Rainbow, Tame Impala, and Boyfriend Machine are the bands I want to name here.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
After spending some time playing and singing in bands I discovered that I had more and more fun while writing songs and playing all Instruments on my own. I used my studio which I built myself. Some of my biggest inspirations are nature and the vintage vibe of old music and movies. I tried to put all of them together.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
There’s only one challenge: To find a balance between music and everyday life. My greatest attribute is that I will never get stuck because find myself in many different music genres and I always want to discover new things and styles to try them. People say I’m relaxed like my music. But related to my projects I am also well organized.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Definitely no! There’s still so much to learn and it will always be like this. My best discipline is clearly singing. I’m proud that I can play that many instruments, too. However, I think there are many artists who can play them better than me.
What are your plans for the near future?
I’m currently working on the second single and my first album. I will release both during this summer.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
My shout-outs are not very creative but I can make them with conviction. I want to give special thanks to all people who made Xanda possible. These include of course some of my friends and family members. On this point, I want to spotlight Fabi Erdt. Thank you for your commitment!
How can fans find you?
What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?
Objective feedback is essential. So try to catch many different opinions. It’s not always easy but it helped me a lot to make the best out of myself.
