Exclusive Interview with Benzo Dro!
How did you come by your stage name?
I got the name Benzo Dro because the last three letters of my real name is dro. I just added the benzo for fun.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I discovered my love for the craft when I was about 12 years old. That’s around the same time when I heard the ready to die album by biggie smalls for the first time. That album, along with other artists like Jay Z and Big L, is what inspired me to begin writing my own lyrics and perfecting them from there.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I believe that my sense of style, as far as music goes, is a mix of more than one genre of music and many different artists that I discovered over time.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
My newest project, Up For Interpretation, was given that title because I wanted the listener to form their own conclusion on what my songs mean and to form their own opinion on my music.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
I believe that I am definitely the best at what I do base on the fact that nobody else is doing what I’m doing, the way I’m doing it.
What are your plans for the near future?
My plans for the near future is to release another project that contains anywhere from about 5-7 tracks, which is being worked on right now, and eventually design and produce merch for everyone who enjoys my music.
