Moe Gee talks about his craft, sense of style and much more

How did you come by your stage name?

My name was given to me by one of my childhood friends in 2008, I remember there was too many Mohamed’s around, so he looked at me and he told me your name should be Moe Gee. And ever since then it clicked, it’s a catchy name, easy to remember and it’s short for my real name.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I’ve always loved music, I come from a family that enjoyed art, and I remember in high school everyone was trying to be a rapper, I started writing songs but they weren’t great, I got discouraged and years later moved on to djing, and that’s when I studied a lot of different types of music and had a great knowledge of different sounds.

I was always into music, but never had the courage to actually do it. A few months ago I’ve dealt with some events in my life and the only thing I could have done to let out my feelings and thoughts was writing. I showed a few of my friends and they told me they would be great as songs. From there I started learning and mastering the craft.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I would accredit my sense of style to my inter thoughts and emotions.

On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?

On my next single “Empty Inside” I came up with it after a few things that happened to me and I had nothing to do but to write down my thoughts on it. Not lyrics they were just thoughts. Then I linked up with my producer and heard a few beats and from there the lyrics started forming.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

The greatest challenges are definitely coming up with different stories to develop for new songs. And you always have to make sure nothing like that was made before.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Honestly for a person that is getting in the game, I’m here to stay.

What are your plans for the near future?

My plans for the near future is to release a few more singles and started working on an 8 track album.
