UTE exclusive interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

My name is Ute. Just Ute. Since my last name is way too complicated for most English speaking and listening market. Ute is short without any curlicue. Once you have heard my name it is easy to remember. 🙂

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

As a little girl at the age of 4 years old I sang along with the artists my parents used to listen to and dance to. From that time on I never stopped singing again. I love to sing in our garden or on stage or in the studio. The power of music gave me no other choice but to become a professional singer.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

The producer of my songs Kurt Wipfli. He is a multi-award and Grammy award-winning producer. It took us some time to find out the right sound and style for my music. We look for songs with a strong message in the music as well as in the words.

My style is what I call: Less is more. Clear, smooth, soft, relaxing, and never over singing. I love as accompany instruments the saxophone, the electric or acoustic guitar, and the cello. Each of them stands for a solo instrument as well and they perfectly underline my emotions.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

My current single is called “Happiness Together”. Kurt Wipfli wrote this song not only for me but for a soundtrack for the movie called “Teenage Girl – Valerie’s Holiday” by Mutt Productions. It is a film a strong and current topic about stop bullying people and love who you are.

“Happiness Together” is a real love song. It is the once in a lifetime story where you suddenly realize the person right next to you, is the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. Not thinking about tomorrow or the future but simply saying: I do

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

To be patient is the greatest challenge for me. My greatest attribute is when I said yes to any kind of decision, then it’s set in stone. I will not go back on my commitment.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Ha Ha, I wish, but that would be boring. Also, I am not vain. 😉
Of course, I am not the best in what I do, but trying to be is a lot of fun. 🙂
At the end of the day I look in the mirror and I can say to myself: Well, today I have given my best. So, I can face myself in the mirror. What more can anyone expect? All my motivation for life and singing comes from my heart and my soul.

What are your plans for the near future?

A documentary called” Ute-Music Makes Me Fly” will be out on Amazon Video. It was produced by Pulsar Records and Mutt Productions with a matching soundtrack.

I also have a holiday single coming out called “Santa Is Knocking At My Door”. Look out for it in November.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Absolutely, I would like to thank the people that never give up on me, like my parents and my producer and friend Kurt Wipfli for supporting me this far. And of course, to my awesome listeners, I would like to send a big virtual hug to all. Thank you very much and please stay well and safe.
