Illegible aka”Jordan Maxwell” Interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

Along with making music and being a student, I am a social media influencer. I wanted to find a unique username and came across this one, illegible. I decided it really portrayed or brought together the idea behind why I started music in it being free-spirited and no real right or wrong.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I actually started on the producing side of things, however, the more I learned and put in time with/around music I found my true passion in it being songwriting and recording my true thoughts and feelings.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I accredit the late, but never forgotten, juice world. I love the vibes of his music and how you can really feel the emotion he’s trying to portray in his lyrics and songs.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

I came up with the concept based on experience as well as listening to some of my favorite artists to really get a feel of what’s popular, what people want to listen to, and how I could incorporate my ideas into those.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

Some of my greatest challenges include finding the time to write and record my music as I am also a student, have an internship, play baseball and football, as well as a social life. My greatest attribute is just that competitive drive or edge I have that just strives to put me at the top and be the best.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

That’s a tough question to answer, however, I do not think I am per-say the best. I don’t think anyone is the best. I think everyone can always grind and work harder to be better, however, I do think I am good at what I do, but I know there are betters out there and that is okay. We all learn from each other.

What are your plans for the near future?

My plans for the near future are to graduate from college this upcoming May as well as I have accepted a job at an accounting firm working in Tax. I am currently working on an NFT collection of Boxers that I started with my friends (JabsNFT.io) and plan to see where that and my music takes me!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout-outs?

Shout out to everyone struggling through hard times right now. Just know, it will get better and there is always help. No matter what the issue or problem is, I promise you someone is there to listen and wants to help.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

Keep on grinding and don’t let anyone tell you no/otherwise.
