DJ Glenn McCrary talks about his current project “Prosperity”, sense of style and more

How did you come by your stage name?

I was actually inspired to use my real name as my stage name because my favorite DJ who happens to be Oliver Heldens inspired me to do so.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I discovered my love for my craft at the age of 16 and about seven years later after a few years of partying/clubbing, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in DJ-ing/Producing.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

Wow! That’s a very good question! It’s a wide variety/eclectic mix. I could go on for hours naming all of them. I would honestly have to say Oliver Heldens, Curbi, Juicy M, Mari Ferrari, etc.. Literally if you could name any artists from 2010 to 2020 in the House Genre of music I would know who they are. I’m a fan of nearly all of them.

On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?

Well, I just went into the studio, messed around a bit, played off of some vibes, and put together some beats, baselines, and melodies and from that point, I clicked with some unique vibes and then the idea for the title sparked from the way my life is currently. It sparked from a place of prosperity and good fortune. It showcases how fruitful my life has become.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

Some of my greatest challenges when it comes to my work ethic are having a specific/set promotion cycle or a set schedule in general as I am very sporadic and I just do things how and when I want it. Ironically, I prefer a set schedule. My greatest attribute would be my ambitious, relentless pursuit of success and the loving support of my fans.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I would say there is a lot of room for growth and with that being said I would have to humbly say that I am one of the best.

What are your plans for the near future?

To release more singles and eventually release an album. I plan to release an album sometime in the near future. I also want to start a youtube music promotion channel and work for a record label. I also plan to attend more music festivals as well.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

I’d like to say thank you and give a shout out Sara from Colton’s Steakhouse in Bartlett, TN, Cynthia, Shelby, Caitlin, Chris, Heather, Van, Tabitha, Roy, Joan, Cameron, Laquita, Rita, Karlynn, Melissa, Tina, Diamond, Doug and Nicole for their love and support for me. They’ve really uplifted me and helped me to excel in life.

I’d like to say thank you to Emma for being supportive as well and for being one of the sources of inspiration for the song. I’d like to thank LANDR, Octiive, Promo DJ, Clap Charts, Zire, Playlist Pitcher, By The Wavs, Beat Lounge, Digital DJ Pool, Digital DJ Tips, Sub Bass, 8tracks, Music To, Digitally Imported, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Beatport, Tidal as well as every streaming store that distributes my music. I’d like to also thank a handful of my favorite celebrities for inspiring me to create and pursue music.

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?

For other artists such as myself, I would suggest that they shouldn’t worry about what people think and they should always dare to be different. Be yourself, chase your dreams, and don’t let anyone or anything get in your way. Never give up hope. Anything is possible.
