Kimia Penton Interview with Muzique Magazine
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
Music was my safe haven and outlet since elementary school. Thanks to nurturing and inspiring teachers I was encouraged to develop my musical gifts. After writing and performing my first song at age 13, I realized the healing and transformative power music has! I’ve been writing and performing ever since then.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
The current album is exploring relational themes and the importance of honesty, authenticity, and mutual growth in relationships. The single “Change” is about the importance of compromise and growth from both people in the relationship. Empty words and promises don’t mean anything. We all need to dig deep and do the transformative work.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
My greatest attributes are my strong work ethic and my attention to detail. My greatest challenges are also my strong work ethic and attention to detail! It’s important to find balance and know when to let something go and release it and also when to take breaks. I’m also a very observant and compassionate person and I leverage those attributes to write music about situations we’re collectively facing so that we can bring challenges to light.
What are your plans for the near future?
The first single from the album will be released on September 17th and the album will be released next spring. I’ll also be sharing videos and behind-the-scenes footage and I’m looking forward to playing live again!
