Dominique Gill Interview with Muzique Magazine
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I grew up singing in church. When I would sing as a child I could always sense a strong feeling of peace of mind. I never really wanted a career out of it, but I just allow my singing to flow into what I love most. Worshiping the Lord. Now I’m happy to be able to serve with my husband in full-time ministry as a worship leader and recording artist.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I loved hearing Brandy as a child. My husband always says that I remind him of Brandy and Judith Mcallister LOL.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
I just began to reflect on how much I love God and honor him with my life. The name of Jesus is always a great name to sing about! I could just imagine people singling this life during our worship events around the country.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
I would say my greatest challenge is balancing motherhood and my music. Moreover, I’m currently completing my doctorate in education. I’m loaded. But, in this, I’m great at staying focused and balanced altogether.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
I would never say that I’m the best. I enjoy what I do but if I considered myself to be the best, I’d be dismissing my opportunity to learn and grow.
What are your plans for the near future?
I most certainly plan to record more music. Most importantly I look forward to sharing my music in live worship experiences so that I can connect with my listeners.
What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?
My greatest word of advice to other artists would be to remain true to yourself. Don’t fight with the idea of duplicating someone else in order to be great. Be you! Your gifts will make room for you!
