Deniz Yildiz Interview with Muzique Magazine
When did you realize that you could have a professional music career
Honestly, I am not coming from art or music. I was playing basketball before I played guitar for the first time. My main inspiration is Yngwie Malmsteen but I watched Efes basketball games before i watched Yngwie. So it is like I am making music with the mindset that I learned from sports. I have some guitar heroes etc. but my mentors are Roger Federer, Ergin Ataman, and Aaron Jackson. I have this mix of sports and music and I feel like I can be successful if I will have the right people around myself and friends that supports me no matter what happens. With my song called ‘ Lonely Life’ I am starting to my music journey.
On your current project, “Lonely Life” how did you develop the concept?
I have been recording music with different musicians since 2019. It’s been a long journey but I finally found my way. If you want to have a global level top quality sound in your songs, it is like a puzzle. You need to find the musicians that fits to your music. Trick is it is not only about their skills or how they match to you. They still need a high quality studio to record a top quality track. If you didn’t find the sound engineer that matches to your music, the sound still won’t be there even tough you found the best musicians. So it took me 5 years to have this kind of a team around me but finally I am enjoying my Music.
What are your plans for the near future?
In two years I want to play my music in the whole world. Playing in the biggest rock festivals. This is my biggest motivation. Nobody made it to that level from Turkey but I am gonna do it. It seems almost impossible but I grew up with watching Ergin Ataman. He made a lot of things that people said it is impossible but he found a way. I’ll lead my life and I’ll do it in my way.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout-outs?
(for my song called lonely life)
I wrote the music and lyrics. I made the arrangement too but with out the team I have It could be impossible to have this sound. I have to thank Marcello Vieira, Caroline Joy, Felix Lehmann, Manuel Morais, Hector Ruano, Vesislava Todorova and Serdar Öztop. For the art cover and the lyric video I’d love to thank Akın Baran Eren and Gürkan Dener.
What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Just do what you like to do. Everything comes and goes in this world. Make sure to have some fun too!
