Exclusive: George Dfouni Interview with Muzique Magazine

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

My love for music started at a very young age. I listen to all genres. My favorites to listen to is classical music. I find it the most relaxing. However, I find Middle Eastern music to be the most romantic. It’s something about the Arabic language that always fascinated me, its deep expressive meaning.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I admire many singers from the Middle East and I can honestly say, that the talent generated from that region is beyond great. I can sit here and give you names however, I have great respect for many of them. Their passion for their music was the driving force to get me into this field.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

I reached out to the lyricist Ahmad Abdelnabi and asked him to write a romantic song that would suit my personality. I worked with him on other songs and I love his style. He obliged. Two days later he sent me the lyrics and a guide. The song was composed by another friend of mine, Lebanese singer Rabih Baroud. I fell in love with the song as soon as I heard the first note.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

I have released 73 songs. Every song that I produced has a special meaning to me. I pick topics from my life experience and most people can relate to. I deliver my work straight from the heart, and I have found that most of my fan base appreciates the work, and to me, the goal is to send a message through music.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

It’s very hard for a person to judge themselves. The key for me is to try my best at everything I do. If the project is a success, it’s great, if not I will use that as a learning experience for the next one.

What are your plans for the near future?

My plan is to enjoy the success of my latest hit ” Enti Bt3enili”.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

I would like to thank the team that worked on this song, Ahmad Abdelnabi, Rabih Baroud, and the sound engineer Ali Ramadan, and of course, I will never forget to thank the fans that supported me with their love for the past 10 years.
