How did you come by your brand name?
Troy Escar is an abbreviation of my real name.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I have always had a love for hip hop and rap music, growing up my siblings would always be blasting music in the house and coming through with new CDs and mixtapes. I was a heavy listener of Hot 97 radio station. But what did it for me was the first time I heard an instrumental on a promo cd. I couldn’t help but put my on flow to it and that was it from there.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I would say coming from The Bronx, New York definitely molding my style. From growing up on Jay Z, Biggie, Nas, Fat Joe, and other artists that was hot when I was coming up and still are now.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
Well for this particular song ‘Credit Up”, I was inspired by a mentor Ramel Newerls who was operating in the credit space and he heard the “Real Estate” Song I created and inspired me to come up with this song as well. As I started getting more familiar with credit myself, I saw how much of an impact it had on my life and others and I wanted to provide some motivation in a cool way to get the message out there for people to take their credit seriously. I am also doing this with ourcreditup.com.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
I would say just always having positive substance and a motivational message in my music. This is different from the music I used to make before. I am just getting back into music and wanted to approach it in the right way and have a balance that motivates but also makes you think.
What are your plans for the near future?
To continue inspiring through my music and other things as well. EP and Album on the way.
