Mat B Interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

That’s a really nice story! All of my friends always call me Mat, from Mattia, my real name, I simply added the B, a tribute to batteria which means “drum” in Italian, the instrument I play but when I decided to open an Instagram account for “showing the world my craft” Mat B was already taken, I choose then matbcapo and suddenly everybody started to call me like that!

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

The gift I received for my first Christmas was a drum, since then I always know that music will be all I want to do in life! hehe, I’m a boy wonder!

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

It all started from an old Polaroid I found in a book I was reading. The photo portrays a couple hugging on the beach. With that image clearly printed in my mind, I created the melody for “Summer’s Out” in a couple of hours, and then I closed the song in a week!

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

The greatest challenge for “Summer’s Out” was to write the lyrics since this one was the first song I wrote in English, but thanks to my work ethic, I don’t give up until I succeed, I came up with the lyrics in a couple of days!
