Groov Marro Talks About His Sense of Style, Current Projects, and More
How did you come by your stage name?
It kind of just came to me one day. For the longest time, I tried to come up with a dope, unique, and original stage name that would fit my personality and style. Then one day I woke up and it was just there.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I always had a love for my craft. Back in my youth, I would listen to my brothers and cousins rap and freestyle for fun. I would try it myself and I was terrible, but I knew in order to get better I had to keep working at it.
What made me realize I wanted to pursue a career in it was me seeing so much positive feedback on a few songs I recorded in my brother’s old studio, I normally only let my close friends and family hear my music but after a while, I took it public with their encouragement.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I honestly can not think of anything or anyone I can accredit my sense of style too. I’ve always just done my own thing, more like an oddball than anything else.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
I don’t really strive to come up with different concepts. I just go in whatever direction the music is telling me to go. Normally I’ll come up with a hook and build the song around that hook.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
One of my greatest challenges has to be staying focused for long periods of time. It really hinders my music production more than I’d like to admit. One of my greatest attributes would be that I do everything I set out to do. Whether I succeed or fail whether I take minutes or years, I always do what I say I’m going to do. I was raised to never give on to anything I start.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
No! I know what I am currently capable of at this moment. To call me the best would be to disrespect an artist that has mastered this craft. I haven’t even come close to mastering my craft.
What are your plans for the near future?
My plans in the near future is to write a hit song for summer 2021.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
First and foremost I have to thank my mom. She supports everything my siblings and I do and encourages us to be the best people we can be. Also my manager Caleb Box, without him none of what I’m doing right now would even be possible! I’d like to shout out my older brother KAF (stage name) the reason I started rapping. He writes music that would outshine my music with ease. He is currently involved in battle rap and is making a real name for himself there!

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?
The only suggestion I have is to make sure your heart and soul are in this, yes the money is good and the attention is intoxicating but if you are not truly passionate about this it will quickly seem like nothing more than just another job to keep the bills paid.
