k!dJudo an upcoming rapper out of Spokane, Washington

How did you come by your stage name?

My stage name wasn’t easy for me to decide, I changed it twice before I came up with k!dJudo. I really took time into thinking because I wanted something that related to my actual life.

My step side of the family called me judo when I was younger, around their friends I was just known as “that kid”. Judo also has the first two letters of my first and middle name, Julian and Domarious. I thought it was the best stage name for me, even if it does become Judo.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

Music has always been a part of my life. Growing up, my family played a lot of Outcast, Black Eyed Peas, Daft punk, and Eminem. Fourth grade through tenth grade I played the violin and wanted to become a professional at it, but grew unattached due to the pressure I was receiving to be real.

My best friend AD!ZZY started rapping that summer and I soon took upon it my senior year after a horrible break up. I was in a bad state of mind. I thought writing music would help me and it did. I’d later spit for him and freestyle with him and he’d be the first to tell me I could do it with him. He’s a huge reason why I started.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

Man… my main inspiration and idol will always and forever be $not. I give a lot of credit to him when it comes to my voice, style, and way I rap. Along with Lil Skies whose wave I was on before nowadays, I used to watch him on cuf boys on YouTube and just loved the way he melodically flowed then transitioned it into a rap verse. Them two both really helped me develop the certain flows I can come up with today and I give all my credit to them and many more I look up too

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

Coming up with the concept of “Welcome to the Dojo” which just released on SoundCloud (soon to be out on all platforms). I wanted it to relate to my name, who I am, what my style is, how I’m going to tackle each beat with a different flow but have each beat follow the same vibe. My producer used Sakura for a lot of the sounds and he produced every track. We wanted every song to have a different feel but follow the same vibe.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

The doubt on my shoulders. It piles but can never bring me down.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

No. I believe I’m talented and was gifted with the art of music. But not the best. That’s the people’s vote and I’m not up there to decide whether or not I’m the best. I’m a dawg and dawgs stay humble.

What are your plans for the near future?

My first ever EP “Welcome to the dojo” is soon to be out on all platforms but is already on SoundCloud. After that, I’m looking forward to collaborating with a few local artists who’ll be put on my deluxe part of my EP. Right now that’s my line of focus, but I’m already working on much more, such as a music video.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Shout out to all my local artists in Spokane, D!ZZY, Trezzy, Ej, 509, $lim, and Juice who’ve done nothing but hype me up and give me the motivation to make music.

Also my mom and family and lovely girlfriend, Spokane Washington, my producer and manager. One last big shout out to you guys for having me answer some questions for y’all. Really appreciate the love and would love to come back again.

How can fans find you?

Instagram: kjudoo, Twitter: @JayAverage, and any inquiries, bookings, or features my manager’s email is sameboyreligion@gmail.com

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?

Don’t give up, don’t listen to anyone else but your friends and anyone else who believes in you, work on your craft, make your lyrics real not fake, and most importantly don’t stop grinding. Dawgs stay humble. Judo out.
