INDIE SPOT
Interview with upcoming artist “I AM SHE”
How did you come by your stage name?
I literally was in the studio writing a song when my partner said ‘So what are you gonna call yourself?’ I wanted something cool I said what about I AM SHE, he said it was ‘sick’ (slang for amazing lol) I replied somebody probably already has it so I google searched it and boy, I AM SHE was popular but I thought I should run with it and make it my own, after all, everyone is there own unique person and I should let my individuality speak for itself.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I’ve loved music since I can remember, I’ve played piano since I was 7 and always loved singing, dancing and writing poetry. As a kid, I always wanted to do music and although I have let many many many MANY distractions overshadow what I truly enjoy and want to do.
I’ve finally gotten to a place where it’s now or never because being honest with myself I am really not about going in circles, I like to learn from the past, move on, be a better person and do better things. Music has always made me happy and it always will, I’d say it’s about time I showcased my talent and basked in creating and doing what I know I was born to do.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I’m very versatile I’d say my style comes from a load of different things that I’ve seen and liked. I’ve been into make-up and fashion from a young age also, I love creating looks and I just put together whatever l think looks nice, I don’t have a set style, but style to me is going with your own flow so I just do what I feel, always have and probably always will.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
I’d say that my greatest challenge is making sure I spread my energy out evenly into my projects, there are quite a few ideas I have that I’m interested in pursuing but in order to carry them all out effectively I have to be strict, disciplined and stick to a plan which at times can be difficult for a free spirit like myself.
What are your plans for the near future?
My plans in the near future include shooting some music videos for my tracks, so far I have been fixated on the audio side of my music but I really want to focus on dancing, capturing artistic shots & creating some nice vivid visuals.
