Interview with Turkish Producer, DJ and Singer FUREA
Boran Firat a.k.a his stage name FUREA, is a Turkish producer, DJ, and singer from Bremen, Germany. Firat was born in Ankara, Turkey. He started playing the violin when he was 10 but because of his heavy influence of metal music, he switched to playing the guitar.
In 2017 he moved into Bremen to study Industrial Engineering at the University of Bremen. After a year of learning German, he began producing at the same time with his studies. Back then, his biggest inspiration was getting used to a completely different culture.
How did you come by your stage name?
I had really severe ADD in my childhood and I used to feel really awkward because of it.
I never felt accepted and weird all the time because of my behaviors, I was even bullied just because I could read people easily and raise the tension with words.
One day I was watching a short movie on youtube and they were searching for something with a flare gun. I thought that I felt the same way throughout my whole life! I was emotionally lighted up but everything else was just too dark for me. FUREA means flare in Japanese, I love the Japanese language and the alphabet so I wanted it to be in Japanese.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I have played many instruments in my life and I always wanted to be a musician but I never had the courage to do it… I was in many bands when I was a kid but they never turned out good. One year ago I downloaded a demo DAW and started working with it. I released some cringy music on SoundCloud right away, the production was really bad but still… I loved it! I wanted to make something better every day and show it to amazing people!
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I would say the team of Bitbird in general. They taught me how to be really creative while making music and not to make music just to make hits… Making hits are still important though. haha
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
I didn’t start this project just to make music but also show people that they can always talk about their feelings… I also want my fans to be emotionally transparent if possible in my upcoming events and concerts. Just talk to each other people! You are not alone here, not at my events!
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
I’m a fan of the work that’s been done honestly, so I am always honestly doing my job. That is my first line. I want to show how the world could be when everyone could be honest. This is just a dream but if you believe in it, you can be a part of it.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Oh no definitely not and even though if I would say yes it wouldn’t mean anything. For me, it’s important what my fans, friends, and family say. They are my everything.
What are your plans for the near future?
I’m going to pursue my music career as long as I can. I also wanna get to know new people in my life. I find that very inspirational.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
I want to thank my parents and my uncle for supporting me mentally and financially. I wouldn’t be able to do this without them. Love you!
How can fans find you?

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Never quit too early and do whatever it takes that could motivate you. I believe in you and soon everybody else will too! Even your parents want you to have an ordinary job. Show them what you do, talk with them. They will be interested! If not, just peruse it on your own and have musician friends.
