Sack Of Lions Talks About Up Coming New Album, Personal Style & More

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I guess it was when my mom had me start taking piano lessons at a very young age. That carried over as I got older to playing guitar and just liked writing honest songs that people could relate to.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I guess my upbringing, I grew up on a farm in Iowa. I listened to a wide variety of music growing up which made what I write today. I loved that my parents had a wide variety of taste like CCR, Tommy James and The Shondel’s, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations. I always wanted to write a cross between outlaw country and 60’s soul. Not sure if that is how we come across though

On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?

The band went into ARC Studio in Omaha, NE about a year ago to start the new album. We had 14 songs we wanted to do and ended up cutting some and writing new ones that ended on 12. There really isn’t too much of a concept, we just wanted to write relatable songs that will cater to a high energy live show.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

I guess just getting someone to take the 60 seconds to listen. It’s great with technology that anyone in the world can come across your music at any time without having to be pushed by a label. It is just getting it in front of those people.

What are your plans for the near future?

We are releasing the album May 31st with an album release party at The Reverb Lounge in Omaha, NE that same night. Lots of shows coming up throughout the summer, it’s going to be fun.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Of course, we have to thank everyone who has supported this band since day one. Then, of course, we are like a Nascar team and thank your sponsors, Ernie Ball, Kimes Ranch, Watson’s Hat Shop and G7th Capo company.

How can fans find you?

Sackoflions.com, Facebook.com/sackoflions, Instagram, all the places the kids know.
