Interview with Chicago Based Artist Nuskoo Hippy

How did you come by your stage name?

It’s funny actually because someone else told me one day in the middle of a sesh that I’m like a “New School Jimi Hendrix” and at the time I thought that was so cool and funny.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

It was never really a time when I wasn’t honing my craft, or where I didn’t know what I liked doing. It was always fun to create music and write songs.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

Ooo this is good… I love so many different artists I can’t narrow it down to one. But I can tell you the 4 that made me sure I want to do music: Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Incubus, and Foo Fighters.

On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?

The unnamed project I’m currently working on for me is a representation of my growth mentally and spiritually. I’ve been going through some things I feel like made me change the way I think and move.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

One of my biggest challenges is writer’s block tbh.. I can sit and write garbage that sounds good with no problem. But as soon as I start to try to add association and symbolism, I just keep repeating the same line until something makes sense. It’s almost like writing a book.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I feel like I’m really good at making good songs. However, I do feel like there’s always room for growth, not to mention some people with the raw talent for it.

What are your plans for the near future?

I want to finish this project and start touring, to be honest, I been recording singles for a while now, and I think it’s time I really dive into my developing fan base and give them a solid album to listen to.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Quick shout out to my niggas in Bottom Row Gang and the homie Rapkurt! Go check out his new album “The Art Salesman”!

How can fans find you?

You can check me out on Instagram, that’s where I’m most active! Give me a follow and feel free to share any of my music if it makes you feel good!
