Interview with Netherlands Based Producer DJ Doc Ketamer
How did you come by your stage name?
I get my nick-name at parties, and I kept it as an artist!
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
As soon as I started to go to free parties, I knew I wanted to be part of it. So back in the days, I was a juggler and I used to organize shows for those parties. Slowly I start to get more and more into music production and live sets…
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Definitively European rave parties in 90’si got everything from that scene: the style, the music, the mentality.
On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?
Well I taught a vinyl must be a ‘DJ-tool’ and as such, it would be cool if could have a wide range of track styles the could cover different kinds of parties and vibes.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Nah I’m never the best. in fact, I always think I can do better, and when it comes to production if I had no deadlines I’d never finish a single project as I could always continuously improve it. Schedules give an end to my projects, and even I always have the feeling it’s not the best, me I could do better, others can do better, it’s done and I bring home the score.
What are your plans for the near future?
I’m working mainly on 2 albums now, which I’ll release in the very next months., both hip hop and both with 2 Italian rappers and friends, but both full of collaboration with international artists, but they ‘all have 2 completely different styles!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Well, I dedicated this album to all my friend who was coming to parties with me but they are not here anymore, so as it’s written on the back of the album in loving memory of Enzo Onesto, Murat, Saretta, Pierluigi, Igan, Snuff e Adilson.
