Eddy G Interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

My Artist name came from my legal name “Edwing” growing up they always used to ask if the G was silent at the end of my name. It is not! Kids were calling me Eddy, at the time I was about 12 years old. Someone shouted out after winning a talent show “Eddy with the G at the end.” I have been called “Eddy G” since then..

A Note of Interest: “4N Label” (Foreign Label) L.O.U.D (Living On Undeniable Determination), is a collective of dreamers, visionaries, believers, and the underdogs, who are determined to follow their passion and live a life they love. The crew was formed by Omar Maurice Jackson formerly known as ODAWG, and Eddy G. The founders of 4N Label, our movement L.O.U.D with 4N Label aims to provide platforms, opportunities, and an outlet to those who have a flair for music, fashion, and art.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I was about 7 years old when I found my love for music. We were living on the south side of Houston TX, on Yale ST. At the time, I vividly remember I took a guitar that my uncle would play down to the ditch and pretending I knew how to sing and play. They were only dreams back then, God gave me the vision at the age of 16. I have been grinding ever since, I have been rapping for two years and decided to pursue it as a career.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

After multiple, long and sleepless nights in the studio, I can say that my sound was developed and found in the midst of efforts to become a better artist and better version of myself. Growing up I looked up to artists like Lil Wayne, Drake, Usher, and Romeo Santos.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

Drop Top – is a project that was made off real-life events and emotions. Just shit I was going through at the time, in the past, and what is to come for the future.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

My greatest challenge is being an undocumented (DACA) approved resident in the USA. But this has motivated me to prove myself and boast for what I really am, 4N! & I am one L.O.U.D kid raised in the US from the age of 5. I have never felt like I can call a place “home.” Looking back to all that I have accomplished on my own, regardless of my situation it really makes me want to motivate others in the same position as me to stop hugging their pillow.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I am the best in what I do, period! I have never been told otherwise. Everything that I do and has happened to me is Legendary. I don’t see me hitting the brakes any time soon…

What are your plans for the near future?

My plans are to win!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout-outs?

Shout out to my team 4N Label! Huge shoutout to the people grinding with me and tuning into my story. Shoutout to my top fans in Phoenix, Atlanta, West Chicago, Houston, and the city of Albuquerque.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

I couldn’t find happiness in giving up my dreams. “Live doing what you love so that you love to live” otherwise get out the way bro.
