INDIE SPOT
Interview with Upcoming Artist Leksun
How did you come by your stage name?
I came up with my stage name by matching up the first three letters from my first name with the shining sun.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I developed a strong interest in rap music when I listened to rappers like Nas, Biggie, and Tupac, coming up with their debut album in the nineties. Traditional hip-hop rap music had always played a big influence in my music career. Ever since then I have always known that was what I wanted to do when I grow up.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I have always repeatedly listened to Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Jay Z, Dr. Dre, Wu Thang clan, Scarface, Ice cube, 50 cents, the game, d block, mob deep, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, and a whole lots of rappers that came up representing the hip hop culture.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
I thought it was about time I get recognized as a lyricist. So I decided to start recording a couple of tracks, due to personal experiences and the drive to succeed.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
My greatest challenge is being able to keep up with the American accent, whilst living in the u.k.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Am good at what I do, but am definitely far from being the best at it.
What are your plans for the near future?
My plans for the future is to make more music.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
I thank my Heavenly Father, Jehovah for making it possible for me to conclude this album, I thank my pretty wife, bisi, I thank my big bro, Tunde pako, I thank my blood bro, Babson for the massive support, I thank my homeboy, Jamo for his never-ending support, I say a big shout out to all the homies that attended my listening party.
