Interview with upcoming artist Zoey The White Lioness
How did you come by your stage name?
Zoey The White Lioness is actually based on the idea of having a spirit animal and persona that I aspire to. The animal represents being unique, strength, and brutal truths.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I’ve always had a special connection with music. I’ve always wanted to create music, but I was so afraid of people not liking it. I didn’t start pursuing my career due to the fear of rejection until about 2018. However, I’ve been wanting to pursue a music career since I wrote my first songs in a dirty composition notebook back in middle school.
I would write so long my hands were covered in ink and lead. It was at that point I felt I had a knack for songwriting. I felt I finally found something I was good at and that God gave me this talent for a reason, I’ve been loving and developing a career in music ever since.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Nine Inch Nails, Project 86, and System of A Down. I really like that casual dark borderline goth look.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
So my current project “Annihilation” consists of songs I wrote when I was younger (I just updated the lyrics but the melodies are the same). The project name stems from the idea of annihilation as well as the movie of the same name starring Natalie Portman. The idea of being annihilated or annihilating something. I was fascinated by the concept of such an extreme word, I just had to use it!
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
I’m constantly planning so many different projects that I overwhelm myself to the point where I don’t want to work on anything. I’m also an uber perfectionist I’m insecure that my music may not be super complex but at the same time, I put a lot of work into making sure everything is pleasing to the ear and doesn’t have any technical issues.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Nah, there’s always room for improvement. There’s always someone better. To say I’m the best is delusional and delusion doesn’t help your growth as an artist.
What are your plans for the near future?
I’d like to stay independent and continue to grow a following. I want to do a few shows preferably ones that aren’t empty rooms lol. I’d like to have a music catalog as big as Bucketheads’ if not bigger! (it’s just a fun challenge I set for myself). So those are my future plans.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Rem Michalski made a very dark and violent game called the Cat Lady. Being a person who has been severely depressed at one point. That game really spoke to me, I really admire him and would love to work with him.

I have social media everywhere: Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, twitter. I’m easily accessible and willing to talk to fans 🙂
What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?
Never give up, have a marketing strategy, put yourself in others people’s shoes. Take people’s feelings into account. BE KIND! If you have an ego, your rude, and don’t take this business seriously, you’re not going to get very far. I can’t stress this enough, a little kindness and humility goes along way!
