Interview with Up and Coming Artist Rico Blvck

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I have always been fascinated by musicians. I’ve had relatives who were musicians and that impacted me in a great way. In addition, I believe that I had a story to tell and that my voice should be heard and I decided to place more emphasis on producing and rapping.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

My greatest challenges are during the writing process. I believe that I have a short attention span. However, when I do get in the groove for writing; I’m usually putting down 5 or 6 songs in a day. I do get that all the songs that I write during that time may not be hits but there are definitely hidden gems in there.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I would rather let the fans and people decide whether I’m the best. In all honesty, I’m just trying to tell my story, have it heard and understood so that I can come up out of the mud.

What are your plans for the near future?

I’m releasing a new single in a few months and also a video for that single. The song is entitled TRM (The Real Me). I believe that this song will give a more in-depth look from my point of view on my craft. In addition, I depict how hard it is coming up in a country that doesn’t place focus on anyone in the Rap/ Hip-Hop genre. There are a few projects in the pipeline as well.
