Kalavonii Interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

Fortunately, my name found me, I know there is only one Kalavonii, an American singer, rapper, songwriter. One of one, custom made in an image of light and creativity. You’ll never find another I assure you, but if you do let me know.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I wasn’t really raised to see being a musical artist as a career, but that didn’t deter my love for music, it’s always been there. Around middle school, I began performing, and I also played the guitar in a jazz band.

Around high school is when I knew that being a musical artist would one day have all my attention. Defiantly had to get my life together first to make moves with the stable ground though because I knew this would be a journey and I wanted to give it a 100%.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

Who would I accredit my style to? Hmm well, I feel like if it’s my voice on the beat it’s my own style so I would say myself. Now I will say some artist that has inspired me would be the underrated goat Khia.

Of course any female spitting bars and deeming themselves a rapper gotta bow down to the queen that took us out of the female rap drought, Nicki Minaj. KELIS, and southern powerhouse Cee Lo Green.

Their energy is unmatched. Really I value character and personality ALOT in music. Human beings are sponges and I think people forget that if anything my music is probably a micro reflection of every song I’ve heard and liked.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

When it comes to my debut EP “Chameleon” it’s really focused on versatility and is somewhat a volume 1 to my album. Of course, as a rapper there will be rap tracks, it features singles “NASTY” and “DM” which the girls loved on Instagram.

In addition, there will be some funky pop vibes and you know I had to add some R&B for the girls. Recording music other than rap is fairly new to me but I wanted to prove to myself that I’m capable of going a melodic route. Overall it’s raw, self-affirming and I have a strong feeling Chameleon will be enjoyed.

Kalavonii Interview with Muzique Magazine

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

Not to get off topic but I haven’t mastered a handstand and that truly concerns me for one. As far as challenges I guess I would have to say taking “NO” for an answer. I do my best to keep no and can’t out of my vocabulary.

Truly my persistence might be a challenge for others but not me. This is what I do daily, every day I make one or more strides closer to my music goals so I don’t even consider it work this is a lifestyle at this point. With a creative vision and a clear mission I KNOW, I WILL SOON BE PLACED IN THE PROPER POSITION. I live by it, and you can keep that free of charge!

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Am I the best? Well, no one could ever really “do” Kalavonii like I’m doing Kalavonii. All this personality, confidence, will succeed WHILE remaining humble, whew. LOL. I know people think I do it ever so gracefully but it is a full-time job.

As long as Kalavonii has legs and arms I will put the work in with no off days, baby I don’t get tired. I couldn’t imagine doing or being anyone else except the best version of me. It ain’t on me it’s in me. PERIOD. smiley face. And write that down. LOL!

What are your plans for the near future?

Collaborating with others is always fun and I always love the knowledge that is shared in sessions so collaborations are at the top of the list. Refining my brand even more as well as performances because we’ve taken some time to get things organized.

So really just excited to step out there to engage and create new fans as well as meet some that have supported me so far. There are no limits in my eyes just temporary obstacles at most, but there is always a way if you have the will to succeed.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout-outs?

I’ve actually gotten to learn from some talented creatives and people that have worked with the best. Advice from someone who has achieved what your trying to achieve is an achievement and gift all on its own.

I’d like to give a major thanks to a new entertainment company No longer Nomads for partnering with me to bring my visions to life. No Longer Nomads truly embodies exactly who I am as an artist. Truly anyone that has contributed and supported me in any aspect when it comes to my music I’m beyond grateful.

How can fans find you?

All my fans, stans, and future collaborators can find me on all platforms.

Instagram | Apple | Youtube | Spotify | Website

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

One thing I will advise all-stars on a rise is that the tongue is powerful, so while putting in the work also speak all your goals into existence. YES putting in the work, is key if your goal is to truly be “on” Whatever that means to you.

People have to see and feel that fire in you if you are seeking support and investments to build a solid team. You have to give them something to believe in, YOUR hot, now you have to show the world.
