Interview with upcoming artists Tabaris

How did you come by your stage name?

My actual artist’s name is my real name Tabaris. Time and time again thinking about names that would just stick but Wouldn’t haha. My team and I felt like just being myself is the right way to go.

Being an Independent Artist branding yourself is the most important item you could do for you and your team. It took me a while but now on the right path. All around I stuck with my name. A different concept easy to remember. As of now, I’m putting together my merch line where you can find on my website here soon.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I have loved music for as long as I can remember. Not wanting to sound so Cliche. I was told when I was younger being in church and running up the aisle just to get to the piano and drum set when the choir would sing. As time went on my dad had/has everything you think of till the day.

Vinyl included.. listening to Bob Marley, The Isley Brothers, Prince, Micheal Jackson, Lauryn Hill to Jay-z, 2pac, Snoop, Biggie just to name a few. Music always gave me a feeling of peace. Great music comes with emotion! I just always knew I wanted to do the same for other people.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

As much I would like to say my style is myself and mine alone. I would be lying. I would consider myself a melting pot for Music. I’m looked at as a singer/songwriter. Accrediting artists like 6LACK, Bryson Tiller, Childish Gambino, Miguel, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean Etc. I mean it’s more.. but these artists are beyond dope. I never want to sound alike nor copy a sound.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

My last project was an EP with seven songs. Entitled 1987. I actually had some great feed back. My next project will be a full album. The concept came from prior experiences over all just having fun with the project. Some dope artists will be featured as well. Overall Showing growth and that I’m here to make a path for myself.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

Challenges would have to be hands down writing.. I can say we have a love-hate relationship haha. Writer’s block is real. Anyone can put stuff together but is it meaningful? Will it out last? I’ve always been work under pressure type of person. Setting deadlines.

It’s crazy I can start out like “yeah I’m going to knock this song out” then I come up with nothing or maybe half the song. When I know the deadline is close my second gear comes in and everything comes to me. Work ethic is just something that was embedded in me. I just know what I’m going for and what I want out of life. Tunnel vision.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I would like to say yeah for sure. I’m still learning more and more each day. I feel if I’m in a room full of great Artist/Musicians and they needed me to come up with something. Rather it’s singing/Writing/Rapping I know I can rise to the challenge. I’m all about standing out of the crowd. Not everyone can lead but not everyone always follows after awhile. It’s about going to get it!

What are your plans for the near future?

Due to Covid-19 plans for this year has been slow. I hope everyone is being safe! For future plans. Festivals, Concerts, Merch, Giving back to my community. More Music!!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Honestly, God and fans that believe and listen to my work! Thank You! I appreciate you all!

How can fans find you?
