Exclusive Interview with DJ and Producer DJ VIN

DJ VIN born, Vineet Korpal in Toronto to two immigrant parents from India, Dj Vin showed signs of passion for music. Growing up listening to 2pac, The Beatles, and more, Dj Vin developed a versatile taste for music.

However, his life completely changed while he was attending Trent University for an undergrad degree in the sciences. This is where he grew fond of DJing and shortly started playing at clubs and events all throughout Ontario.

As DJing was not satisfying his creativity, Dj Vin discovered music production to help satisfy his musical appetite. With over 250 thousand streams on Spotify alone, Dj Vin has developed his passion for a career with his unique sound which has caught the attention of listeners worldwide.

How did you come by your stage name?

My real name is Vineet Korpal however my nickname growing up was Vin. When I was thinking about a stage name, I thought Dj Vin sounds pretty cool.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I discovered my love for music production while I was in university for my undergrad. I picked it up relatively quickly compared to my peers and slowly started working with local artists.

While I was working 9 – 5, I realized that this is not something for me which pushed me further to pursue a career in music.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

Growing up in Toronto in an environment full of many different cultures, I grew up listening to many different genres. I grew fond of Classical Rock and Hip Hop.

I can definitely say that those two genres influenced my production style. I am a huge fan of The Beatles, 2pac, and Juice Wrld and I feel like my music reflects this diversity of taste.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

The greatest challenge so far has been the COVID 2020 pandemic. It has made it difficult to not only tour but to record music as well.

With studios closed for months, it was difficult to stay focused on tasks and I had also lost a bit of inspiration and creativity when it came to producing.

I overcame this by working harder and by writing out plans to help stay focused on my tasks and goals.

What are your plans for the near future?

My future plans are to keep pushing my music out and to work harder to achieve my goals. I am currently working with my childhood friend Princely who has given my beats life with his beautiful voice.

We will continue to record more music together and shoot music videos to promote our upcoming singles. Hopefully one day I can inspire producers to work hard at their craft and to work with upcoming talented artists.

How can fans find you?

My music is available on all platforms. Just search Dj Vin and listen away! You can also find me on social media platforms such as Instagram, just search Dj_Vin6.
