BAKARI Interview with Muzique Magazine
How did you come by your stage name?
Coming up with my stage name wasn’t too hard, It’s my middle name and it just had an RNB-type vibe to it so I went with it.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I discovered my love for music at a young age when I was exposed to artist such as Sam Cooke Michael Jackson Chris Brown and Miguel. I studied their roots and why/how they started their musical journeys. I fell in love with music as a student first, the melodies, the art of writing, it all was intriguing to me
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
Y.A.M.S stands for “you aren’t my shorty”. All of my music comes from personal experience. So if you listen to the song you’ll see what took place in this experience.
What are your plans for the near future?
My plans for the near future is to continue putting great music out and growing my fan base. I’m just getting started so I have a lot that I still want to do and accomplish. Touring is also something I’m looking to do in the next year.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout-outs?
Shout out to N2O for seeing my talent and believing in my vision, shout out to Pianoboy for adding his sauce to the mix, and Jhouls for being there from day 1. Shout out to Chella for letting me use her as the cover art and shout out to the muse behind my music
