Thanks for doing our interview Alonzo! You have a very interesting story, can you tell us a bit about yourself & your background?
Thank you for even being interested in hearing a little of my story. I always find it difficult telling people “a little about myself”. I’m just a regular guy with talent and dreams.
I’d say the short version of my story is that I’m a guy that comes from very humble beginnings. I was raised by a single mother in a small town (Rockford, IL). I’ve overcome many obstacles in life but my talent and drive have always gotten me through.
As a child, I went to every arts camp that I could, I was in every dance class, every musical and won every talent show no matter what level of school I was in. This was when I began to realize I was something special. & The rest is history.
What do you feel has been your most memorable show thus far in your career?
I’ve had some amazing highs in my career. I can’t say what my most memorable show is but its definitely a tie between Americas Got Talent & Performing at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado.
What musicians would you most like to collaborate with?
Artists id love to Collab with would be JOSS STONE, Jessie J, Fantasia & Normani. As for producers, it has always been my dream to have Missy Elliot produce a song for me.
If you could only be remembered by one song what would it be?
Just sat here for about 15 mins with a borderline anxiety attack trying to answer this question haha. I’m very indecisive when given too many options.
How would you describe your live show to any readers of ours who have not seen your show yet?
My live show is an “Emotional Roller Coaster” as my friends call it. I make it a point to always sing from my heart this often makes people emotional because I exude raw emotion.
I also make it a point to give a message that uplifts and inspires people before they leave. Whether it’s your first or 5th time seeing me, you are guaranteed to FEEL, be inspired & most importantly be entertained.
Every artist has a why. What is your why when it comes to creating music?
Because it’s the only place that I find hope. Being on stage is the only place where I feel strong. I can’t really explain but I feel so much power coming from my heart when I sing. It’s when I feel closest to God.
If you could only listen to one song on repeat for a solid week. What song would you choose?
I actually do this all the time haha. Just depends on my mood that week. The most recent song was “Long as I Live” By Toni Braxton.
Tell us about your current TOUR!
I’m currently on tour as the lead singer with “4U The Music of Prince W/ Symphony”. It’s a Symphonic celebration of Prince’s music. This tour is the FIRST and ONLY approved tour by Prince’s Estate and I am the first lead singer with the Estates Approval.
The Estate has been very protective about people singing his music so this has been a great honor. I’ve also gotten a chance to meet a lot of Prince’s Fans and getting their approval has been even more amazing considering how protective everyone is of Prince.
