Briya Jordan talks about her craft, style, and current project
How did you come by your stage name?
My first name is Briya and the middle name Jordan. Some people call me Jordie so I went by Briya Jordan.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
July 2019 I discovered my love for music just before turning 20 years old. I’ve always wanted to be a performer of some sort or do something artsy (draw, dance, or photography) but never knew that I could sing until I posted a video on IG while at work and people said that I sounded good.
I begged my Dad to take me to a studio to record a songs and it came out sounding good so we kept going back and I kept getting better and better. After that first session, I knew music was my purpose and I went home and told my Mom….I’m going to make it!
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Well, I’ve been told that I have an old soul and though my parents were separated since I was very young they both instilled a sense of optimism and passion in me to never give up and always try to better myself no matter how dim things may seem at times.
I’ve always been the oddball who was picked on and laughed at in school and I struggle with that until I finally started embracing it a few years ago. When you’re not the cool kid you have lots of time alone and that gave my brain time to think about life the galaxy and so on and I began a spiritual awakening and awareness and you can feel that in many if not most of my songs.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
I was listening to beats and my Dad happened to be walking past and heard me humming a melody and said that sounds crazy (in a good way) so I started writing words that the vibes and energy brought to me. People I’ve to know for a while don’t show my music much love but I know they’re watching me via social media but I guess my circle keeps getting smaller and I’m on my own.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Greatest challenges would be not having my own studio yet so I can record when inspiration hits…instead, I just write all night long and save it until I can book a studio session. So yeah one day I hope to have an in-house studio as an option.
Music is my true passion so It doesn’t feel like work because I know I was born to do this. Other artists say wow your work ethic is crazy you write all the time and you stay recording and I say how can you not?
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Yes I am because I’m the only one who does exactly what I do so it’s me vs me so I’m the best at being me (if that makes any sense) lol
What are your plans for the near future?
I plan on dropping a few more songs next month, setting up a tour, and releasing my first project later this year, maybe in the fall.

My Dad who is also my manager and my Mom for supporting me and a big shoutout to my fans who’ve rocking with me and giving me support this past year.
