S.A. Joe Lucero Interview With Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

I never really had a nickname so I just used my name since that’s what everybody knows me as. When growing up it was always Joe or Lucero or S.A. Joe Lucero. So I do reference myself as S.A. Joe Lucero a lot.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I have been wanting to do this since I was 13 growing up with the homies back in the day. My love for music grew more and more when I met the homeboy Smoke Dogg from the 505 and he turned me on to rapping.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

Everything it is a mix of Wisin y Yandel, Linkin Park, Stevie Stone, Strange Music, Slipknot, Ozzy Osbourne, and many others. I’d say I have a very mixed plate and I hope people are cool with that I’m that music weirdo ya know.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

Just seeing stuff around me my personal struggles the political situation. Then of course just having a good time as well. I just wanna have fun and enjoy what I do enjoy the art of writing and making music.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

My greatest challenge has been time, it’s been rough I been going to school and working and gotta be there for my fam. So I balance a lot, as well as a hurt shoulder I am hoping I can make some money off this album to get that done. my shoulder is completely messed up.

But my thing is to overcome them by writing my frustrations my pain my feelings let it all go through music. I will always work hard for my family no matter what. If a project flops screw it I start over again and make something better.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Nah, there are lots that do what I do that are better than me.

What are your plans for the near future?

Keep making music and hopefully build a good fanbase and career and work and collab with some of my favorite artists.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

My wife kids, mom, and dad, my grandma and uncles in Monte Vista, my auntie and uncles in Alamosa, my friends all over the world, my current fans and followers thank you all.
