Rose Savage Talks About Sense of Style, Current project, and Much More

How did you come by your stage name?

Rose Savage is a mix between my real name and the sound I was more or less going for at the beginning of my music career. Needless to say, I’m more Rose than Savage these days.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

Listening and growing up to Mary J. Blige in my lowest scariest times, is when I discovered my love for my craft and realizing this is EXACTLY what I want to do for the rest of my life. The sound of music helping people feel understood and heard and not alone, was so much more motivation for me to keep going.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

Once again I could probably say Mary J Blige, but I sound nothing like the queen. So I’d have to say I, myself, to be honest. I can literally make various genres of music and feel like it’s MY SOUND on ANYTHING I put my words to. As for the newer sound I have going on, I’d have to give credit to my boyfriend for the more R&b side of me coming out.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

So on my current project “SAGED” I had so much unreleased music that I had started creating before I took a break (in my “Savage era), that never even touched people’s ears yet. The newer sound I was going for, made it come together and show the uniqueness and also similarities from Rose then, to Rose now and the growth.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

My inspiration is definitely a challenge for me sometimes just because the music always kept me going. And let’s be honest, music isn’t anywhere close to what it used to be. But that’s where I could also say my strengths because no matter how much music has changed, I can literally put on a country beat, to pop or Rock, and still tear up a mic.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Am I the best at what I do? In MY OPINION?! YES. I’ve literally made music that has touched big stages such as the Apollo and stadiums that they had to play AGAIN because of the reactions off of the crowd. Ever since then, I’m convinced.

What are your plans for the near future?

Traveling, touring, and making more of a brand of myself such as merch and lip gloss in EVERY COUNTRY I CAN is my goal for the future.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout-outs?

Firstly I want to thank my boyfriend and my mother. No matter how crazy I drive them, they still push me and motivate me to be not only a better person but a mother and artist as well. Huge shout out to them, my son Maj’esti, and each and every one of the fans that have stuck by me since day 1.

How can fans find you?

You can find me on Facebook Rose Sage, on Instagram @The_roseonly, Twitter Rose Savage, Spotify, apple music, YouTube, Rose Savage…

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

I hugely suggest no matter what anyone tells you, follow your heart and soul and never change for anyone unless it betters you. Never give up on what you love, breaks ehh. . Sometimes needed. But giving up is not in our vocabulary. Find, and love yourself so others can love that artist in you, just as much as you.
