The music video opens in a smoky bar. Patrons are dancing and drinking in the hazy blue light. The DJ spins a new track full of old school hip hop and dancehall vibes: “If Yuh Feel Like,” by the Las Vegas-based duo InfamousMusik.
We in the club light
Sipping on this Hennessy
She rubbing on me all night…
But it feel right
Whisper in my ears, “Do you want it?”
I said, “All night”
So come and see me if it feels right
You can have it
If yuh feel like
The atmosphere in the music and video were both carefully and deliberately created by InfamousMusik, the husband and wife duo of Anton and Chandra White. For lead singer Infamous, born Anton White, the music doesn’t start with lyrics. Instead, he envisions a fully formed visual.
Anton says, “I kind of picture the video first, then I start to write the song.” As a result of this process, “If Yuh Feel Like” has a cinematic quality from the very first beat. It is made to be seen and heard, and to make you feel; a full sensory experience.
Like many DIY artists, the vision behind “If Yuh Feel Like” was born in a home studio. There, InfamousMusik built the foundation of the track from scratch. Anton says, “I start everything in the home studio. I create beats and then add lyrics to it.”
From there, the musical idea was brought to producer Tiger Stylz at his Digital Insight Recording Studios in Las Vegas. Due to years of experience honing his skills with artists like Rihanna and Lil Wayne, Stylz is a true musician’s producer who works closely with InfamousMusik to turn their concept into a radio-ready sound.
“We’re trying to bring back that old-school feel,” Anton explains. That philosophy explains the 90s hip hop and dancehall feel of “If Yuh Feel Like,” even as it incorporates modern production choices. Heavy bass and layered, contemporary rhythms keep the track grounded in the present, even as its attitude and style are reminders of an earlier era.
When it comes to goals, InfamousMusik is looking far beyond a single track. “We’re trying to bring a new energy,” Chandra says. “We want to bring something we feel has been missing.” They want to expand their reach globally, far beyond Las Vegas, and “If Yuh Feel Like” has the sound to do it.
