How did you come by your stage name?
My stage/ brand name comes by way of my real name and middle initial – Jessee B.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I’ve always had a love for Latin Freestyle Music now known as Electronic or Dance Music and developed craft singing in church. The inspiration for me to pursue a career in music came from DJ’ ing events and watching many entertainers perform on stage. I started writing lyrics and creating my own vocal sound. I became the lead singer of a group and garnished a beautiful fan base which leads me to continue pursuing a career in music.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
My overall style was inspired by the early 80s. Latin Freestyle Music and Hip Hop have always been prevalent in my community. I’m of Puerto Rican descent with an Irish blend. Southside Chicago background. The 4 elements have always been apart of my personal musical background and upbringing.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
I came up with the concept for my current single with the intention of making people dance by combining freestyle music with our traditional traits in hip-house music from Chicago and simply added a storyline of a hard-working woman who just wants to let everything go for one night and dance under the lights.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Some of my greatest challenges in this business are thinking about how I can take it up another level. What can I do to impact someone’s life in a way that they can overcome whatever issues life has thrown at them and how can I do it in a positive way?
My greatest attribute in my work ethic is to see the smile on my mother’s face when she listens to a new song I’ve recorded and looked in her eyes knowing I’ve made her proud.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
I respect everyone’s craft but if I don’t go into this believing that I am the best at what I do then I’ve already failed.
What are your plans for the near future?
My plans for the near future are to complete my album and pray for recovery in our country so that I can cross every stage across the country and put on the best concerts I know that I’m capable of giving my beautiful fans.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
I would like to thank God first and foremost as well as my family. My beautiful fans know that I am nothing without them. My label DME Music (DMarie Harris) as well as my label mate and friend Diddle Colon aka Diddle D. My dancers Vince and Triny and all the DJs across the country for their continuous support of my music.
