Interview with Up and Coming Hip Hop Artist Saint Yoto

How did you come by your stage name?

I came up with “Saint Yoto” because I found this anime character and he kinda resembled me in a way. But his name was hard to say or read so I switched the letters around and came up with “Kyoto” but my brothers call me “Yoto” and I live in Saint Paul so I mashed the two together and came up with “Saint Yoto”

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

When I just got done performing for the first time as a rapper. The crowd was clapping and shouting my name. It was wonderful. After I was done I knew that I could take this a long way if I just stay focused and keep making heat. stuff that will turn heads and make you get out your seat.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I would have to say my style is unique, but if you mashed a couple of artists together then I would say lil yachty , ab soul and prince.

On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?

My newest single “space” will be dropping soon I have a chopped and screwed version of it out now just to get a little taste of what I been working on lately

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

As an artist, my greatest challenge is that sometimes I trip over my words because I have a speech impediment. It definitely makes things harder, but it makes the finished product so much more authentic to me.

One of my greatest attributes is that I’m always optimistic. If you’re ever down & need a mood boost, you can turn to any of my music & find your head bobbing along to the rhythm. I can make even depressing music lit.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Yes.

What are your plans for the near future?

At the moment I’ve been working on mixing up a lot of content for my growing fan base, & I hope to start releasing music on a consistent basis. I’m also looking forward to doing a couple of local shows.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Shoutout to everybody who supports me in what I do, they motivate me to work more & more every day.

How can fans find you?

You can find me on Instagram @saint_yoto & on SoundCloud @Saint Yoto.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

If you feel like you have something going for yourself in any field, pursue it, 100%. Make sure you got a financial plan for yourself too, nothing in the world ever comes free.
