Interview with Texas producer/rapper Jeuse

Jeuse is an artist from Texas. A producer and rapper whose influences range from The east coast to the west coast. His music reflects his pure emotion and drives throughout his writing and production. After taking a brief hiatus from making music he rediscovered his love for music and is looking be a voice to those who would be unheard.

Where are you from?

I’m from Cypress Texas which is a few minutes away from Houston on the north side.

How did you come by your stage/band name?

Jeuse is my nickname my friends gave me that stuck. Kastoan is just another way of spelling my last name.

Today’s music seems to be about collaborations with the “hottest” artist out. Who would you want to work with on a project? And why?

I honestly would not want to collaborate with anybody. I hate following trends and doing what everyone else is doing. I’d rather stick to myself and work on improving my music.

How do you feel about bootlegging?

I feel if people bootleg then let them. In the end, your fans will find a way to support you if they really fuck with you.

What are you currently working on and how can the people find you?

Right now, I’m working my single S.G.I. that is out and looking to put out my next LP Dodo which will be in the next few months. I’m about to flood the market with good music.

Do you feel that the industry needs more artist like yourself?   Why?

I feel the industry does. Artists like myself push the boundaries of what is a song and the structure of the song instead of the typical. I think it is a part of evolution and we need more artists like me not afraid to push the envelope.

Would you prefer to be independent or signed to a major?

I have no preference. To me, it’s only about the right situation at that time. If it makes sense, then I feel it is something that can be done. Right now, being independent makes sense.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Right now, I feel I am in regards to beats and structure. I can switch up the tempo and change the atmosphere of a song with ease. It is something I’ve perfected.

What is your favorite song?

Right now, it’s S.G.I. It’s the hottest out.

Tell us about your new project.

Dodo is the project I’ll be coming out with that will be a rare form of music with emotional and creative depth. It will be about 9 songs and will give people something different to look forward too.

What does it mean to you?

To me, it’s another project of mine that I will perfect and finally give to the world to enjoy.

What is your ultimate goal at the end of your career?

I’d rather not have a goal. I feel I can push my limits and potentially more by not giving myself a benchmark and just going as far as I can.

How can potential fans find you?

I have my own website www.thisismiart.net and you can also follow me on Twitter or Instagram. Twitter – jeuse_33 and Instagram is jeuseisi.
