Interview with Gospel Artist Crystal Sherie
How did you come by your stage name?
My name was actually given to me in my youth in the ladies locker room. I believe it carried over into my adulthood because I’m very personable.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
I discovered my love for music at an early age. I use to stay up all night so my dad would take the cable chords out of the back of the TV so I would go to bed. But I was very persistent. I found a way to wire the TV so that I could stay up all night and watch music and videos.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Although I believe my style is unique and original…I would say my influences would be any style that merges more than one style together.
On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?
My upcoming album entitled, ‘TWENTY’ is a concept of producing something mature after a certain period of time. For me, it’s twenty years of doing music in and out of the industry.
2019 Marks 20yrs so naming the album TWENTY felt right. A lot with me has happened musically these past twenty years.
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
My greatest challenge in regards to my work ethic is that at this point in my life I feel like there’s so much in me that I’m driven! Like a faucet that’s turned on and won’t shut off.
In saying that being driven is a challenge it’s also an attribute. Since there is a flow something is always being produced.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Of course! Not only am I the best I was uniquely designed to do it like only I can! Nobody can beat me at being me!
What are your plans for the near future?
I’m going on tour in 2020.
