Interview with Colorado Based EDM producer and musician El Viaje

El Viaje is an EDM producer and musician, living in Colorado. He has been steadily rising up in the music world and continues to release music about as original as an artist can get at his stage. His latest album “Adolescence” and new EP “False God” has fans in awe. His works have been called “genius” by other music critics and it seems like he is just getting started.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I guess I’ve always had a love for music. I started playing violin when I was 3 years old and then piano when I was 5. Music has always been a really significant art form in my life and creating it has become one of my most enjoyable things in life.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

My top inspirations for music are Sam Gellaitry, Flume, Flying Lotus, and San Holo. All of these artists are really talented musicians/producers who I feel have created and refined their sound and are super original. Particularly Sam Gellaitry as the most original.

On your upcoming project, how did you come up with the concept?

On the new EP “False God”, I was really inspired by all of the things in our world that we see as “Gods” and how truly illegitimate many of them are. Not religious figures per say, but all forms of material and non-material things that people dedicate their lives to that have no true value. It seems to me like people pursue things that are utterly meaningless and of deceptive identity.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

I would say that one of my greatest challenges is to really say what I am trying to say. Music is a great creative outlet, but it’s still difficult to get people to understand what the true message is behind my art.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

That’s very flattering, but I would have to say no. I have spent a lot of time on my art, but I believe I still have a long way to go compared with those I consider the great icons and artists of the music.

What are your plans for the near future?

I’ve got lots of stuff in the works at the moment, but I would love to continue collaborating and expanding my craft into new territory.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Yeah for sure, my squad Earic, Stan, T.Wick, Nano, and my parents for all of their encouragement to keep creating and for their help to keep pushing me into new horizons.

How can fans find you?

My fans can find me on basically any major music website.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

Be original. That’s it. Break free from any creative cages you have built for yourself and just do your own thing.
