Interview With Artist Marcus Christ

How did you come by your stage name?

I’ve had a few stage names. I started as MTB (Marcus Todd Brooks), The Profit (2005), Money (2012) and Marcus Christ (2015). I picked the name Marcus Christ because it was unique and spoke to who I am as a person. Marcus means God of War and Christ means anointed one. So, Marcus Christ means Anointed God of War. It’s an eternal internal fight with myself is the takeaway from that name.

When did you discover your love for music your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be popular. I didn’t see myself working 9-5 for 30 years. I have too much energy. My family has never been fond of singers. So I kept my passion for music low key and focused on other majors I could study in college. Most of my 46th Lane friends in high school loved music and that help fosters my passion.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I have a few musical influences depending on the genre. I always loved 2Pac, Em, Jay, Nas, Busta, MJ, Prince, Dolly Parton, Kenny Roger’s, Nancy Sinatra. Right now I like Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, does Drake have an enemy cause I like him too.

What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist your craft, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

I think my diligence or persistence is my greatest attribute. My greatest challenge is getting people outta my business that should’ve never been there.

What impression would you like fans to be left with after experiencing your craft?

I hope they feel I can improve but I brought enough to leave them satisfied. Once you listen to the same person every day it’s no longer a thrilling to experience. I hope I can come back with it.
