EXCLUSIVE: Meet Anastasia Bondarenko aka DJ Ana Boo

Ana Boo’s musical journey began at a young age, as she immersed herself in the world of music, mastering the piano and developing a fascination for a diverse range of sounds. This early exposure sparked a love for vibey and eclectic tastes, nurtured by her experiences within the underground music scene in Europe during her modeling career.

Anastasia Bondarenko aka DJ Ana Boo has shared the stage with esteemed artists such as The Martinez Brothers, Artbat, and Seth Troxler. Not only is she a prolific DJ, but her clientele also includes prestigious names like De Beers Jewelry, Max Mara, Tudor Watches, and Sports Illustrated. Today We exclusively interview her.

Can you tell us about your musical journey and what has inspired you to pursue this career?

My passion for music started early, particularly through playing the piano. However, my journey toward becoming a DJ took a significant turn at a friend’s party when I took control of the music. The enthusiastic response from the crowd inspired me to seriously consider pursuing a career in DJing.

How would you define your music, and what has influenced your choice of music genre?

When it comes to defining my music, it’s a bit tricky because I take inspiration from various sources. My early modeling days exposed me to European underground music scene, which influenced my musical journey. That experience inspired me to carve my own path in music. As for my style, it’s not something I can easily put into a box. I go with what feels right in the moment. For me, music is all about vibration and bringing people together, letting them feel and dream.

You’ve been described as having a vibey and eclectic taste in music. Could you share some artists or musical influences that have particularly inspired your style?

My musical taste is indeed quite diverse. Some artists who have particularly inspired my style include Birds of Mind, Lee Burridge, and Bedouin. Their ability to blend different genres and create immersive experiences with their music has been a significant influence on me.

You’ve performed at various notable venues and events. Could you share a memorable experience or performance that stands out in your career so far?

One of the most memorable experiences in my career was performing at Snowodge in Aspen before the Chainsmokers. It was snowing, and the energy of the crowd, along with the overall vibe, created a magical atmosphere. It was a surreal moment where I felt a deep connection with the audience, and it reminded me why I love what I do.

Your performances have ranged from intimate venues to large events. How do you adapt your DJ sets to suit different environments and audiences?

Adapting my DJ sets to different environments and audiences is a crucial aspect of my work. For intimate venues, I focus on creating a more immersive and emotional experience, often mixing deeper and melodic tracks. In larger events, I bring more high-energy tracks to keep the crowd dancing and engaged. It’s about reading the energy of the crowd and tailoring the music accordingly.

Your DJ highlights include playing for prestigious brands and events. How do you tailor your sets to align with the brand’s image and event theme?

When I’m DJing for prestigious brands and events, I work closely with the organizers to understand their brand identity and event theme. This helps me curate a set that aligns with their image and creates a seamless connection between the music and the overall experience. It’s about enhancing the brand’s message through music.

Could you share some insights into your creative process when curating a DJ set? How do you decide on the tracks and vibes for a specific performance?

My creative process for curating a DJ set is a mix of intuition and preparation. I start by selecting a few key tracks that I know will set the tone for the performance. From there, I build a playlist that allows me to flow through different moods and energies, creating a journey for the audience. I also pay attention to the technical aspects, like beatmatching and transitions, to ensure a seamless mix.

Collaboration is key in the music industry. How has performing alongside renowned artists influenced your approach to DJing and your growth as an artist?

Performing alongside renowned artists has been a tremendous learning experience. It has exposed me to different styles and techniques, pushing me to constantly evolve as a DJ. Collaborating with these artists has also expanded my network and opened up exciting opportunities for future projects.

Your clients include a range of high-profile brands including Byvlgari, Max Mara, Sports Illustrated & Tudor Watches. How do you maintain a balance between artistic expression and meeting the expectations of your clients and their audiences?

Balancing artistic expression with meeting the expectations of clients and their audiences can be challenging. However, I believe that staying true to my unique style while also being adaptable is key. I work closely with clients to understand their vision and find creative ways to incorporate my sound into their event. It’s all about finding the right balance and creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Looking ahead, what are your aspirations and goals as a DJ? Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations that you’re excited about sharing with your fans and audience?

My aspirations and goals as a DJ include continuing to push the boundaries of my creativity and expanding my reach to new audiences around the world. I have some exciting projects in the pipeline that I can’t wait to share with my fans and audience. So stay tuned!
