Exclusive Interview with Mr. K

How did you come by your stage name?

My stage name is based on the first letter of my first name Khulekani. I needed to still consider that I’m practicing engineering thus the Mr, so to find a balance of being an engineer and an artist, “Mr. K” was born.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I’ve always dreamt songs but during the covid lockdown period. I was really touched by the Lord and this fast tracked my album and the vision execution I was given. The verse that best explains this journey for me is Psalms of David chapter 40:3. My journey is meant for the world to start trusting Him.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

Style, LOL. I’m still working on that one. When the style journey starts I’ll let you know. For now, I’m just taking it one day at a time.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

Most of the melodies came in dreams and the relevant Bible verses would stand out as I read the Bible. There were songs I had finished before the Lord touched me like “baby mama” and “go away”. With these ones, I went back after studying the Word and changed my poetry to capture what the Bible says about the subject.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

I have met a number of challenges in my career as an engineer but my musical journey has been Devine intervention. Everything fell into place as soon as I understood the vision.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Spreading the word of God is all our business and we are all best at it in accordance with our gifts.

What are your plans for the near future?

Going out to the world to learn the Word of God practically. Then telling these stories of Christ witnesses through music, Tv shows, and documentaries.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Oskido “ the Godfather of Music” from South Africa, thank you. To my wife thank you, My love, for My fountain of blessing.

How can fans find you?

I’m on most social platforms IG and Twitter: mrk_pgf and Facebook: Mr. K Put God First.
