Eva Constance exclusive interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

I cam by my stage name because I wanted to have a name that not just sounded gentle on the ear, but had a ring to it and had meaning behind it. Eva means living and Constance means life so together it means living life.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I released I wanted to be an entertainer when I was very young. I would say between 8 and 10 years old. I always had the idea that I was someone who had something to share with the world. My grandmother put me in the choir when I was about 6 or 7 years old and at the time I actually hated it.

I did not understand it. As time went on and I grew, I started to gear towards it and by age 12 I had written my first song, which I still have to this day. I have about 400 songs written but most of them will never be recorded. I just wrote to them to put my emotion on paper. So, yea between ages 8 and 10.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I would have to credit my sense of style to one of my favorite singers, Aaliyah. I would also like to credit my grandmother 1000%. She is my inspiration for fashion. She’s like one of my best friends and supporters of my dream. She’s a Christian woman so she does not favor my music choices and what I write but she supports me 100%.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

I came up with the concept because I can sometimes be a selfish person and I think most people are selfish with something that they just want for themselves. I thought about that and my past relationships and why things did not end so well and wrote a song on it. That’s when I created my debut single “Selfish”. a lot of my songs are about relationships and my past because I feel that I have a story to tell no matter the outcome.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

Some of my greatest challenges would be just trying to climb this music ladder by myself. I do not have a team to help mess it can be a challenge to manage this on your own. I take it one day at a time and organize myself so I do everything I need to have smooth results. My greatest attributes when it comes to my work ethic would be persistent in everything that I do.

It can be hard to handle this music industry when you are alone. I have to really check out who I may be dealing with on a day to day business because there are so many people you will run into that are not in it for you. They are in it for themselves and those people you should stay away from. I make sure that I am very thorough in everything I do and not give up because this takes time.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I feel that my own style of music, what I write, and how I deliver it is very unique and it is my own style. It was hard for me as a child to find my own sound and looks. I would always look up to other performers and take their ideas as my own, not that looking up to other artists is bad, but I did not take what they did and make it unique for myself.

I did not understand that until later on in life. It is ok to be different because that is what will make you stand out. You don’t always have to be over the top and shiny. You can have a calm, peaceful, and elegant presence that people will just vibe with. I would say though, just remember to switch things up.

What are your plans for the near future?

My plans for the near future are to keep making music and following my passion. I never pictured myself doing anything else and even though I am in school for something else my main thing is and always will be music. I am juggling a lot of things but it is not stopping me and If I believe in myself more people will also.
