Cashe Interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage / brand name?

I got my stage name years ago in the streets from most of my homeboys always telling me I looked like money when I stepped out. So, Cash just became a thing. In 2013, I changed it to “Cashe” which means Chasing and Striving Harder Everyday

My Black Mogul brand was launched in May of 2019 after I came home from the BET MUSIC AWARDS. Black Mogul derived from a place and vision of who I always wanted to be.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

Music has always been a part of my life. I grew up around music and started writing at the age of 8, but it wasn’t until I was 19 that I decided to pursue a career in music.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I credit my style to RAKIM, Jay-Z, Nas, LL Cool J, and Kanye West. I’m like a mixture of all these artists in some way shape or form.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

Um, I came up with the concept because nobody really knows my full story on how I got here and how far I had to travel on this journey. “If You Only Knew” what I’ve been through and what I’ve overcome up to now.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

My greatest challenge really is trying to master my marketing. I haven’t mastered digital marketing yet. I’m trying to figure that out. My greatest attribute is that I get up every day and I’m working to learn more. I’m soaking up new information every day then I go apply it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I feel like there’s not too many that can do what I do at the level that I do it. I’ve been mastering my craft for so long that now I’m at a point where I’m seeing the greatness manifest itself. I just want to be greater than who I was yesterday. I am my own best competition. I’m competing against myself every time I step on the floor.

What are your plans for the near future?

My plans are to open up my label to other artists and eventually give them opportunities to be successful.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Nothing is possible without him. Secondly, I want to thank my team, Miami Beat Wave, Malik, Tetrus, Marcellus, My family (my wife and kids who keep me motivated).

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

To other artists I would say, Perfect the craft! Love it. Enjoy the artistry. Don’t expect overnight success and be patient. Do your homework on the business. Write your goals and plans down. Don’t be afraid to be yourself in a world full of followers.
