Arleisha Marshall Interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

I always thought my name was super Unique since we always hear Alicia. My mother named me Arleisha after her.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I discovered I loved everything about music when I was in the 2nd grade. I remember singing in the sandbox with my friends at recess. Music has always been therapy for me. I realized I wanted to pursue a career in music after I finally got over stage fright and being super shy, then hearing folks always tell me how great I was. I started believing it and I started working on being better. I love everything about it.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

My mother

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

I’ve had a lot of highs and lows and at the time I didn’t understand why I had to endure any of them. I’ve grown in so many ways as a woman and I also understand that sometimes we go and grow through things to help other people get through. I take details from my own experiences and put them into my music. I want my music to tell a story so you feel like you were there too.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

As a single mom, things get tough at times but I know that’s also where I draw strength from. The moves I make are with my children in mind. Knowing that I was blessed with this gift that could change our lives motivates me to push. So I do. I know if I put the work in, it’s gonna happen. Anytime I feel weary, I remember why I started in the first place and I push.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Im the best to me. Anyone can make music. But not everyone can be vulnerable in their music. Not everyone makes music that can heal you. You could have a horrible day and listen to one of my songs and it’s gonna pour into you. It’s gonna make you feel better.

You may cry, you may laugh, might wanna call up your lover for a nightcap, etc. It makes you feel something. Not everyone is capable of doing that whether through your lyrics, or hearing you leave your heart on the stage in a live performance. I want people to feel me and most times, they do.

What are your plans for the near future?

My plans for the future are to be a multi-million dollar singer/songwriter, producer, actress, happy, healed, whole, and overall just an amazing person. I try not to make plans because what for me won’t miss me. We can plan, but the universe has a funny way of unplanning for us.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shoutouts?

I want to thank my children. Im nobody without them. Their opinions of me are the only ones I hold near and dear. Every move I make is with them in mind. Also my amazing mother. I inherited my strength from her. And a big shout out to Estabrook Road Records and its CEO Jason Payne for believing in my vision and supporting me with it.

How can fans find you?

My amazing supporters can find me on TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube @Arleisham

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?

Just be yourself. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. Your gifts are yours and yours alone. Anything you wish to change about yourself, do it for yourself.
