HIP HOP TITANS
Adir Is A True Artist In The Making
Artists like New York rapper Adir have something to say about the death of cover art.
The two largest hip hop releases of 2021 were Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ and Ye’s ‘Donda’ which seemingly brought an end to mainstream rappers caring about cover art. Drake had several rows of pregnant emoji for his cover, and what did Kanye’s album have? A black square. Cover art seems to be dead in mainstream hip hop.
Artists like New York rapper Adir have something to say about the death of cover art. In his single ‘Trendsetta’, Adir has incredible cover art, with old paintings, block letters, three eyed cats, and a lotus flower bracing the cover. The mix brings an incredible piece of cover art to Adir’s catalog, and it didn’t stop there. On his 11:11 cover, another collage type cover takes place, with a wild assortment of buildings, babies, and bodybuilders on the cover. Whether intentional or not, Adir is seeming to say something with his cover art: It matters.
