David Lee Interview with Muzique Magazine
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
When I was four years old, my mom took me to a local fair where I saw this band play and my heart stopped. I was so fascinated by the musicians and the energy they brought on stage. I instantly knew that was what I wanted to do. A month later my parents bought me my first guitar and the rest is history.
To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
I’m a huge fan of Michael Jackson when it comes to style or even anything music. I’ve always tried to replicate his style with the gloves and shiny outfits because I’ve always thought it was so cool. I also grew up in the rock scene, so I’m inspired by artists like Guns n Roses who have an edgier style.
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
The initial idea for my new song “SOMEHOW” was written by my good friend Keenan Te. He sent me the track about a year ago and I fell in love with it. It wasn’t until recently that I produced the song and rewrote some of the original demos to fit what I was going through at the time. I’m a big fan of Bruno Mars and Prince which I think is a vibe you will definitely hear on the track when it drops December 1st!
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
One of the greatest challenges I deal with is just trying to not get down on myself. There is a lot of negativity especially on social media. My only goal in life is to make people happy and to spread positivity no matter what I do.
Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
Never! I still have so many things to learn and discover. I will forever be a student in life and learning from the greats.
What are your plans for the near future?
I plan to release the song “Somehow” in December and release/tour with my boyband ” ‘Bout Last Night.”
