Exclusive Interview with Loko Zarney

How did you come by your stage name?

My real name is Thokozani and it means Be Happy. So I needed a name that is Exclusive and Would make my style look different and Loco Means being Crazy. So I played with both meanings and I decided that I want to show people that I can be happy and crazy too and that’s how I created the Stage name Loko Zarney

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I discovered my love for music when I was 10 years old and my Cousin would play a lot of Hip hop music and I loved how these rappers were telling their stories and I felt connected to that. anI wanted to be part of that Culture to fit in that category of Best Rappers of all Time. What made me pursue music is the Environment I grew up in which is filled with Alcohol abuse, Drugs, and a high unemployment Rate.

We grew up not having Role models around and so I want to be one for my neighborhood and show the generation that comes after me that they can do anything they put their mind into long as they maintain it with great focus.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

Lil Wayne is the most influential artist of all time than drake. They laid the foundation and we are now building blocks from it. Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, Playboi Carti, and Trippie Redd not to forget also the Old school Wu-Tang Clan, Nas and Jay-Z are all the people that inspire me. The list is endless.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

I was 18 when I got wrongfully arrested and from that point, I felt like I wasn’t safe and I dealing with depression and at that moment a thought hit me I said to myself I need To break free from this Depression and Set myself free from all the pain I had kept. So FREEDBYTHEBIRDS is the concept. that’s how it came birds fly as they wish and go anywhere they want. That’s the Vibe that I wanted to push out from this Project.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

Not having enough resources to market my music to reach more people and also trying to maintain myself as a Brand and also without having a manager has been a challenge. My work ethic is to Work with what you have and creates magic out of it.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

Hahaha, I would say I am on the Come up and I’m nearly there like halfway through to being the best, but what I’m doing now is I take from other Artists and try to Emulate that and put it into my Music.

What are your plans for the near future?

I’m releasing a single in January 2021 we still confirming the Date, and I will be focusing on how I can grow my Fanbase and interact with my Fans, also on how my music can reach larger groups.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

I’d like to give a Huge shout out To my Mom Ntombzodwa Hendrina Mosaya. She has never judged me when I chose the Path of Music, and to the whole Mosaya Family and My Colleagues as well.
