Xander Interview with Muzique Magazine

How did you come by your stage name?

My full name is Alexander. So I just cut Alex and made into Xander.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I’ve always been surrounded by music my whole life. My family was very musically orientated and it would lead me to be more interested in music. But I started to learn music later in my life until 18 as before I aspired to be a movie director. Studying Film in school made me realize the film wasn’t for me and I would explore different things I’m interested in, then music came into play. I started making beats on fl studio for fun and quickly loved the process of making a beat and them jamming out to your own creation.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

I would say Metro Boomin, Wondagurl, and Boi-1da. I like my beats to be ambient with hard drums!

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

In the near future, I have a lot of projects coming out. In particular with DA REAL3ST. We have a single that just came out called Typical Ways. We have a song with an international artist which I’m not sure I can fully talk about. We are also planning on releasing an ep soon.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

One of my greatest challenges is leaving school to pursue music. There have been a lot of ups and downs with my journey but leaving school and tackling music all on my own has to be a challenge for me. My greatest attribute for my work ethic would be my creativity. My mind never stops thinking about ideas and melodies, even when I’m doing something that has no relevance to music. I feel this is good because it helps me not become bored of my work and burnout.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

No, I’m nowhere near the level I want to be in order to be the best. I would say I’m 25% into reaching that goal. I have so much to learn such as playing more instruments, learning how to engineer a song, and be more musical rather than a guy who just makes beats.

What are your plans for the near future?

My plans are making music my full time career, that’s my only goal as for now.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Shout out to StonerBakedRecords for giving me this opportunity as well as Muzique Magazine for making this article
